Bits and Pieces

Little things I have learned following President -elect Obama's Friday press conference. All 500 of Obama's headquarters campaign staff have been told they can apply for jobs in the new Obama administration. All are eagerly waiting for the publication of the Plum book which is due out Wednesday. The Plum book is published once every four years and lists every political job title and salary in the current administration. There are about 8,000 job titles listed and former staffers will be looking most closely at about one third of them. Those are the strictly political..or in a familiar Chicago term..patronage jobs. Resumes are being tweaked on the way to being forwarded to the Obama transition staff. Though it could be well in to next year before the majority of those jobs are filled with eager Obama campaign workers. Right now a cabinet is at the top of the transition staff agenda.
Now I only have one source for this but I was told that on election day Obama staffers and volunteers got so far ahead on the get out the vote calls that they called every registered voter in Wasilla, Alaska three times urging a vote for Obama.
