Day One of the $25 Illinois Food Bank Challenge
It has been challenging from Day One. When I woke up this morning I only had water for Breakfast because I hadn't shopped for the week. For lunch I had a Cup of Noodles which I purchased for a $1 at a local 7-11, and for Dinner I had Black Beans and Rice. It filled me up, but I still felt hungry for the rest of the evening. I didn't have any green vegetables, which is unusual for me. I tend to eat a lot of fresh vegetables and fresh fruit throughout the day, but I knew those two things would fall outside of my budget. For the rest of the evening I felt tired, hungry but I fell right to sleep.

Tricky, but not impossible. Fresh fruits and veggies can be gotten from co-ops or produce markets for much less than Jewel. I would not totally follow this shopping list for success. Jelly? White bread? Better to buy the yeast for the same price and you could bake three loaves of healthful bread for a little more than one loaf of white bread. Course, that doesn't account for the opportunity cost.
