Just want to know what you need to do?

If you receive WTTW through an antenna or "rabbit ears" and you currently do not subscribe to cable or satellite, you have 3 options:

1. Purchase a converter box for each television set in your home that receives TV signals through an antenna.

2. Or, purchase a new television set with a built-in digital tuner.

3. Or, subscribe to cable or satellite that carries the channels you want to watch.

WTTW, so bad that people in the heart if Chicago can't pick up your signal. I have an antenna and digital tuner that picks up 22 channels, but no WTTW. Fewer and fewer people are choosing cable. Like me, we watch Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc., but still rely on antenna for local broadcasting. Very disappointing.

I have completely lost it too. With so many switching from cable back to OTA TV you'd think they would be on top of this issue.

My Channel reception on Channel 11 WTTW is abysmal at best, pixilated, out of sync. I have antenna TV. Channel 20 Wycc disappeared altogether last year, talk about frustrating. I am not quite sure how they can ask for money repeatedly without providing basic decent service. For the British programming I like to watch it seems that with the exception of Sunday night, it has been a season of reruns. We just watched Jewel in the Crown a short time ago, and here it is again in what used to be the Tuesday night Mystery slot at 8pm. Get it together WTTW or you are going to lose both viewership and funding. We have too many choices today for you to be complacent.

For the past 6 months or so Channel 11 has been very difficult to watch--sound goes out, picture freezes and pixilates. No other channel does this. I just called Channel 11; they say it's Comcast. Comcast was just here, and they say that it's Channel 11's signal. I can't give Channel 11 money if I can't watch the programs. Someone please help!

Sunday, November 1, 2015 .. the broadcast on Channel 11 (Chicago IL) has been broken since 1PM this afternoon. Audio and video are out of synch and the picture has been frozen for a while now.

Hopefully this episode of Great British Baking will play correctly on OnDemand.

I tried a new digital antenna mounted in my attic. I picked up a few more stations, but no WTTW. I asked at Best Buy and was told that WTTW changed the frequency at which they broadcast and that is why the old antennas won't pick it up. I bought an indoor omni directional antenna by Terk and connected to my upstairs TV and it pulled in all 4 WTTW channels! It would hardly pull in anything downstairs. I eventually took the digital antenna from the attic and mounted on the roof, which added another 8 feet to the height. I now get 50 channels including all WTTWs and even WYCC. Since the extra height helped, it would seem that their signal is weaker than many of the other stations around town.

As The Civil War episode started tonight on Channel 11 at 8 p.m., the picture pixelated, froze for a few minutes, and then the screen went completely black. Here it is a half hour later and still a black screen. Why? Is this a Comcast problem? All the other channels seem to be working so I don't think that's it. Anyone?

Channel 11 has become intermittent throughout the day, most noticeably throughout Monday to Friday. The picture and voice freeze then suddenly the screen goes black. I receive the signal via a weingard large antennae with a separate signal amplifier. Antennae is mounted approximately 24 feet in the air outside the house on a pole. I live in the 60110 area code.

Trying to watch Chicago Tonight was impossible. Certain segments of the program were unwatchable because of intermittent audio and video dropouts. This has been going on for a few weeks now. This is the only channel with this problem . I'm on Comcast in Flossmoor. I was certain WTTW would fix it soon, but apparently not. Can somebody at WTTW at least acknowledge the problem?

I live on the NW side of Chicago and have experienced problems with Channel 11 through Comcast for months and months, if not longer. Tonight seems to be worse than usual. Watching Chicago Tonight, either the picture and audio completely freeze up for 2 minutes at a time or Phil Ponce sounds like a broken record, where it's the same 2 seconds of audio/video repeated 5 times in a row. I didn't know this thread existed until now. Relieved to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Completely true. I am 2 miles farther north, in Flossmoor, and have experienced the same thing for about 2 months. Completely unwatchable. I wonder if there is any way to stream the News Hour?

Interestingly, all the other channels that are at the same transmitter location come trough fine

Live in Olympia Fields and am trying to watch WTTW-HD on Comcast cable right now. It is completely un-watchable- the picture pixelates constantly and the audio drops out. No other channels are having the same problem. I have been experiencing the same issue for weeks and have emailed WTTW with no reply. I will not be continuing my membership because of this.

I have been experiencing poor over the air signal quality for all WTTW channels for the past month or 2. Dropouts are so numerous it is unwatchable. Tried re-aiming my antenna with no improvement. Has something changed ? zip 60053

Phil Ponce announced last week that you were checking into the reception issue and he mentioned that the problem was with Comcast and that CH-11 had the problem solved. But off of an antenna the picture constantly goes out of focus. The signal is 100% on our meter. Other TV's have the same issue. All other stations are fine. It looks like someone is continually focusing the camera lens, like Skype. In and out of Hi-Def.

I live in Park Forest and view all WTTW stations 11-1, 2, 3 off-air (roof top) and have had no troubles for years. Recently, these channels pixelate and the picture appears to come in and out of focus. We have several TVs and this occurs on all TVs. No other stations have this issue. We also see this issue with temporary antennas also. have you reduced power to your signal?

Poor quality signal for Channel 11 every night -- all other Comcast channels are fine. Tried to watch Chanel 11 on the one TV in my home with an over the air antenna and have the same problems. This problem needs to be fixed by Channel 11 and not Comcast.

I seem to lose the WTTW signals for 11-1, -2, -3 every Thursday. "Weak or no signal" is the message I get on the TV. WTTW customer service states "We have no problems. This is your issue. It's probably trees or buildings," she says. Excuse me, my trees and buildings are here every day of the week all year long - they don't move. My antenna doesn't move. The signals come in fine other days. I'm surprised at WTTW's attitude, but clearly they haven't the foggiest idea what to do.

Relieved to know I'm not the only one trying to solve the mystery of what's happened to WTTW Channel 11 -- all three versions just went blank after midnight (Dec. 31) in the midst of the Sherlock Holmes Mystery marathon, no less (very curious). All other stations -- including WYCC -- are clear as a bell, so it must be something at the station end of things. At least I can stop messing with my antenna.

Haven't been able to receive WTTW or any station broadcasting from the Sears tower. NW Indiana location in wooded area. New antenna, tried with both converter box and new digital TV, spent hours aiming, scanning and double scanning with no result. Checked all wiring in house and bought amplifier - no result. This transition has been a nightmare. Conspiracy junkies might think that this was all an effort of cable companies to boost customer numbers.

We live in Indiana, and although we have had some difficulty receiving WTTW reliably we have always been able to get it. Until the DTV transition. Now we cannot receive the signal at all, despite being Comcast customers and having the converter box! What is happening with your signal, WTTW???? This is our favorite station and we have been long time members. We cannot be members of WTTW if we cannot receive the signal; thus, we have suspended our membership until this problem is resolved.
