Alpana's Fall Wine Recommendations

Alpana picks some Autumnal favorites.

Master sommelier Alpana Singh

Toasting for all seasons is Check, Please! Host and Master Sommelier Alpana Singh’s specialty...

  • Fere Cuvee Jean Louis - France; $8
Splendid, sparkling mix of apple, grapefruit and white peach scents. In the mouth baked apple and rich toasty flavors prevail, creating a strong and quite complex middle.
  • Banfi Col di Sasso Sangiovese Cabernet - Italy; $9
The Sangiovese imparts body, while stainless steel aged Cabernet Sauvignon adds fruit and structure.
  • Bodegas Alto Almanzora Este - Spain; $9
On the palate you are greeted with cherries, black berries, currants, and minerals. Light woody traits, and a balanced mouth feel. Then you are left with a long, fruit filled finish.
  • Quinta Da Aveleda Charamba - Portugal; $7
Attractive aromas of currants and berries along with smoky oak. There are plenty of upfront raspberry and cranberry flavors to pleasantly start with quasi-jamminess that reveals its Port wine affiliation.
