About Candidate Free Time

In an effort to better inform you about candidates running for public office, WTTW11 offers candidates for selected offices unedited, free air time to address and engage the public in a straightforward manner. Candidate Free Time allows candidates to speak directly to voters and gives you a concise, unfiltered look at your choices.

Candidates are invited to present the essence of their campaign and where they stand on the issues. All messages are taped at the WTTW11 studios at no cost to the candidates.

WTTW11 pioneered the concept of Candidate Free Time in 1992 in the race for the U.S. Senate and in 1994 in the races for Illinois Governor and other major offices. We are proud of our efforts in leading the broadcast industry in this viewer service and hope you'll find Candidate Free Time a useful tool in deciding how to cast your vote on November 4th.

Requirements of Candidate Free Time:

• Candidate messages may not exceed two minutes.
  
• Only messages pre-recorded at WTTW are acceptable.
  
• No inserts, props or special effects are permissible.
  
• The order of candidates' names for each office is determined by a random drawing.
