Program Host Andy Karzas Presents Anniversary Show To Air Saturday, February 4 at 4:00 P.M.
Chicago - 98.7WFMT, Chicago Classical Experience, celebrates a broadcasting milestone as From the Recording Horn begins its 30th year on the air. The program joined the WFMT weekly lineup on February 2, 1976. Program originator and host, Andy Karzas, will mark the occasion by playing some of the most popular and frequently requested recordings and artists from the show's 30-year history on Saturday, February 4 at 4:00 p.m.
Host Andy Karzas has long been an aficionado of opera and historic singers. Following graduation from Harvard College, Andy worked in the family business as manager of Chicago's Aragon Ballroom, joining WFMT in 1972.
From the Recording Horn began as a weekly series in 1976, bringing Andy's collection of historic and rare recordings of opera and concert artists to listeners. "Thirty years of consecutive broadcasting is a real achievement for any program," said Steve Robinson, WFMT's Senior Vice President. "WFMT is extremely proud to be able to share Andy's knowledge and passion for music with our listeners. "
In addition to his radio work on WFMT, Andy lectures extensively on opera for Lyric Opera of Chicago and other organizations. He's led scores of WFMT listeners as host of annual opera tours to major European musical sites and fabled opera houses.
From the Recording Horn is heard every Saturday at 4:00 p.m. on 98.7 WFMT.
