Sunday, August 27, 2006 in Lincoln Park
Chicago - June 15, 2006 - WTTW11 is pleased to announce the third annual WTTWKids Fun and Run. This special event for adults and children supports WTTW's award-winning and educational children's programming, and will take place in Chicago's Lincoln Park off Cannon Drive, just south of Fullerton, on Sunday, August 27 from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Walk-around characters including Sesame Street's Grover, Elmo and Cookie Monster, Arthur, D.W. and Buster from Arthur, Noddy and Wiggley Pinks from Jakers, Caillou and Bob the Builder will be on hand for hugs and photographs. Live music will play all morning long with Chicago's own Ralph's World, performing their critically acclaimed music for children and adults, along with strolling musicians from the Old Town School of Folk Music's Wiggleworms program. Complimentary food and beverage, giant inflatables for climbing and sliding, games and crafts will be available to all participants along with a host of other performers and WTTW11's own on-air personalities.
Advance registration is required and early registration is strongly recommended for this event. The 5K Fun Run steps off at 9:00 a.m., followed directly by the start of the 3K walk.
The 5K Certified Fun Run Course Route takes runners along the Lincoln Park Lagoon, through the parkland north of Fullerton to Diversey, and then back along Stockton and Cannon Drives to the finish line. Runners can clock their time at miles 1 and 2 and at the finish. Water will be provided along the course.
The 3K Family Walk Course Route follows a scenic course heading south from the walk's starting point through Lincoln Park. Along the way, you can meet your favorite walk-around characters at three special activity stations. The entire path will be on paved surfaces, crossing no major streets. Strollers are welcome. Restroom facilities, handwash stations and water will be available along the course.
Registration is open now. The general entry fee is $30 per person for adults and $15 for children age 13 and under; for WTTW11 members, the entry fee is $20 per person for adults and $10 for children age 13 and under.
