Have you ever thought about how you will earn money when you're grown up? There are many different ways you can earn money. You could be a teacher, a police officer, or even a chef!

How do you get money today? What are some of the jobs you do around the house or in your neighborhood to earn money? Maybe you wash the car or walk the neighbor's dog. But do you still want to be washing cars or walking dogs when you're grown up?

Do you know what kind of skills you will need for the job you want? You might need special physical skills like being able to climb a ladder. But you will probably also need special mental skills, like reading blueprints or measuring. Learning this new knowledge is like investing in yourself.

Do you know how much money you will earn doing the job you want to do? The money you make is called income. Your income will often depend on what type of skills the job requires. Here are some examples:

Teacher: If you like to help people learn new skills and knowledge, then a teacher is a good job for you. You need to go to college to get a special certificate to teach. You will need a 4-year teacher's degree from college to get your teacher's certificate. Income: About $20,000 per year.

Police Officer: A police officer protects people and their belongings. Depending on where ou want to be a police officer, different skills and education are required. Usually a high school diploma is required and often a 4-year college degree. Police officers must past an extensive physical examination. Income: About $57,200 per year.
