| Have
you ever thought about becoming a millionaire?
Many kids today think they can achieve that goal
by being a professional athlete. Being a sports
star is a good goal; but making it to the top is
a lot harder than you think! According to a study
by Northeastern University's Center for the Study
of Sports, only 1 out of every 50,000 high school
athletes will ever become a part of a professional
team. That doesn't mean that you can't do it -
just that you need to have a plan to reach your
goal in case you don't. Here's a game plan for
you!
- First, set a goal. Start
today and keep your goal in mind.
- Next, start working
for your goal. Begin by keeping track of the
small things. How often
do you bend over to pick up the coins someone
else left lying around?
Don't think it's worth the effort? If you saved 25 cents a day, you would
have over $900 by the end of ten years. Now, if
you take that 25 cents a day and
invest it in an account that pays 5% interest,
it will grow to $994.80 in ten years.
Also, be sure to practice smart spending. You
learned how in Lesson
#7. It will take you
a long time to make a million dollars, but
not very long to spend
it.
If you spent $1 every second, it would take you 11 days, 13 hours and 47
seconds to spend your million.
- Start by saving
and investing today. Visit your local bank and
ask them about the different types of accounts
and funds they have to help you get to your goal.
