A Statement on Racism

A Statement on Racism

This has been a painful time for the Black community, for our city and for our country. It is moments like these that compel us to sharpen our focus on how we use our public media platform to serve our diverse community, and to be clear about our values.

We condemn racism in all forms and across all sectors of society. This is not an opinion, or an advocacy position. We believe that Black lives matter.

We are committed to diversity, trust and respect. We will increase opportunities, internally and externally, for equity, advancement and real conversation and be inclusive of different voices and perspectives. We will seek to provide historical context, understanding of current events and guidance for exploring challenging ideas. And our commitment to nurturing curiosity and understanding in the very youngest members of our community will not waver.

We at WTTW and WFMT can have a positive impact now and moving forward. Our purpose to enrich lives, engage communities and inspire exploration has never been more relevant.
