Join WTTW and The Center for Latino Research at DePaul University on Thursday, October 3 at 6:00 pm at DePaul University for a behind-the-scenes preview & discussion of The Young Lords of Lincoln Park, a new 60-minute documentary that follows an activist group that evolved from a social club to a street gang to a political force, banding together with the Black Panthers as the Rainbow Coalition to wage war against what they called Mayor Daley’s “urban removal of the poor” and the area’s eventual gentrification. This program is one of eight new documentaries in WTTW’s CHICAGO STORIES series.
At this event, Bill Johnson Gonzalez, Associate Professor, English Department and Director, Center for Latino Research at DePaul University, will moderate a lively conversation that goes behind the scenes with Tania Lindsay, producer of The Young Lords of Lincoln Park; Jacqueline Lazú, Ph.D., Vincent DePaul Professor, Dept. of Modern Languages at DePaul University and preeminent scholar on the Young Lords; and Paul Mireles, DePaul student and chairman of the Chicago Chapter of the New Era Young Lords.
The Young Lords of Lincoln Park premieres on all WTTW platforms on Friday, October 11 at 8:00 pm. You can watch more episodes of WTTW’s CHICAGO STORIES on all WTTW platforms Friday nights at 8:00 pm beginning September 20 through November 10.
