Think origami is just paper planes and cranes? Meet a determined group of theoretical scientists and fine artists who have abandoned careers and scoffed at graduate degrees to forge new lives as modern-day paper folders. Together they reinterpret the world in paper, creating a wild mix of sensibilities towards art, science, creativity and meaning.

Join WFMT listeners and friends in this all day program designed to enhance and deepen your understanding and love of classical music. David Schrader, renowned and versatile pianist/harpsichordist/organist will instruct and demonstrate about "The Evolution of the Keyboard."
Mr. Schrader will enlighten participants about the keyboard through demonstration and lecture. Musical selections will be performed on the harpsichord, fortepiano and modern piano and will include pieces by Handel, Bach, Rameau, Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin. Equally at home in front of a harpsichord, organ, piano, or fortepiano, David Schrader is:
"truly an extraordinary musician… (who) brings not only the unfailing right technical approach to each of these different instruments, but always an imaginative, fascinating musicality to all of them” (Norm Pelligrini).

Join WFMT listeners and friends in this all day program designed to enhance and deepen your understanding and love of classical music. WFMT's own Peter Van De Graaff and his wife, Kathleen, will give an overview of opera history and perform two complete operas at A Day at the Opera: The Gambling Husband, by Giuseppe Orlandini, the most performed opera of the 18th century, and The Telephone, by Gian Carlo Menotti.
Soprano Kathleen and bass-baritone Peter Van De Graaff have performed in concerts, performing arts series and in festivals in North and Central America, Europe, Japan and China. They have travelled throughout Europe obtaining scores of early 18th century comic chamber operas called "intermezzi" and have subsequently gained notoriety as specialists in this area and have given many modern premieres of these works.
