WTTW NEWS TO PRESENT LIVE FORUM WITH CANDIDATES FOR CHICAGO SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT

Historic forum will feature all five candidates in Chicago’s first-ever election for School Board President

For immediate release
Chicago, IL - August 25, 2026

WTTW News will present a live candidate forum on Tuesday, September 15, featuring all five candidates running in Chicago’s first-ever election for Chicago School Board President. Moderated by Chicago Tonight anchor Brandis Friedman, the forum will broadcast live on WTTW at 5:30 pm, and the conversation will continue for an additional half hour, streaming live on the PBS app, wttw.com, Facebook, and YouTube. The forum will also reair at 10:00 pm and be available online for on-demand viewing.

All five candidates for Chicago School Board President are scheduled to participate: Jessica Biggs, Jennifer Custer, Hilario Dominguez, Victor P. Henderson, and Sendhil Revuluri. The WTTW News Chicago School Board President Forum will give Chicago voters an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates about their priorities and their visions for the future of Chicago’s public schools as voters prepare to select a School Board President for the first time.

The election marks a historic moment for Chicago voters. School Board President is now just the fourth citywide elected office in Chicago, joining Mayor, City Clerk, and City Treasurer, and is the only one of those citywide offices on the November ballot.

Partner organizations Kids First Chicago, The Chicago Public Education Fund, Mikva Challenge, and the Chicago Education Alliance will support outreach to engage Chicagoans around this historic election and forum.

The WTTW News Chicago School Board President Forum is part of WTTW News’ education reporting supported by an Education Journalism Grant from Press Forward Chicago.
