Join WTTW for a screening of and conversation about BLACK AND JEWISH AMERICA: AN INTERWOVEN HISTORY, a new four-part docuseries that explores the complex relationship between Black Americans and Jewish Americans – forged in shared struggle, tested by division, and representing a uniquely American experience. From executive producer, host, and writer Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and McGee Media and Inkwell Media, the series will premiere on all WTTW platforms at 8:00 pm beginning February 3, 2026, and will run for three consecutive Tuesdays through February 17.
Immediately following the screening, Brandis Friedman, the Alexandra and John Nichols Chief Correspondent and Anchor for Chicago Tonight , will moderate a conversation with Daniel Greene, Adjunct Professor of History at Northwestern University and subject matter expert at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum; Cydney Wallace, Board President of the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA) and co-founded Kol Or, JCUA's Jews of Color Caucus; and Pastor Julian DeShazier, Senior Pastor at University Church and Emmy Award-winning musician. The panel will discuss forged civic and cultural bonds and the challenges and enduring promise of that alliance.
