Join WTTW, Kartemquin Films, The Joffrey Ballet, and the Chicago International Film Festival on Thursday, September 10 at 6:00 pm at the Chicago History Museum for a special evening featuring a reception, screening of The Joffrey Ballet: The Next Movement, and discussion.

The Next Movement follows five winners of The Joffrey Ballet’s 14th annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition as they create original works for Joffrey Academy trainees and bring them to the stage for sold-out world premieres. The feature-length documentary was filmed by a crew led by alumni of Kartemquin’s Diverse Voices in Docs Fellowship program.

Following the reception and screening, stay for a panel discussion with the film’s director Cam Be, featured choreographer and Joffrey company artist Xavier Núñez, and Head of the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet Suzanne Lopez. 

The Joffrey Ballet: The Next Movement premieres on Chicago PBS station WTTW on September 18 at 8:00 pm, and will be streaming on the PBS app and wttw.com.
