A 'Magpie Murders' Sequel and More 'Masterpiece' News

It's a wonderful time of year: three favorite shows are airing their third seasons (Miss Scarlet and the Duke, All Creatures Great and Small, Vienna Blood), and we have plenty of news about upcoming shows as well.

We already announced that the coming season 9 of Endeavour will be its last and that a second season of World on Fire is coming, but we haven't told you about Moonflower Murders, a sequel to Magpie Murders. Like its predecessor, Moonflower Murders will be a six-part series based on a novel by Anthony Horowitz, who will again adapt his book for the screen. Book editor Susan Ryeland is still the star, alongside fictional detective Atticus Pünd, who is again featured in a novel-within-the-story, this time one of author Alan Conway's previous books, which seems to hold the secret to a past murder.

Another just-announced new show is Nolly, a dramatization of the career of Noele "Nolly" Gordon, a British actress who starred in the soap opera Crossroads in the 1960s and '70s before being fired in a public scandal. She'll be played by the talented Helena Bonham Carter.

Also coming up on PBS and WTTW, as you know, is the final season of Sanditon, which will premiere on Sunday, March 19. Literary adaptation Tom Jones is also coming this spring, premiering on Sunday, April 30. You can get a sneak peek in the trailer now. 

You'll have to wait longer for season 8 of Grantchester, season 5 of Unforgotten, and season 3 of Van der Valk, but they are coming!
