Oskar and Max wrap up their investigation into a series of murders that fascinates Max and repulses Oskar, causing sordid secrets to emerge from a radical fashion house in the process.

Tristan learns an important lesson when the dog of the daughter of Siegfried's veterinary rival has an emergency, while James and Siegfried adjust to working together as partners in a business and Helen and Mrs. Hall get used to sharing a home. 

When a series of robberies take place near a fine restaurant, Eliza is certain that the owner, an old school nemesis of hers, is involved. But William thinks Eliza's judgment is clouded by animosity from long ago.

While Fred and others organize a talent show to benefit those affected by the recent train crash in Poplar, the midwives and Doctor Turner attend to a family with a handicapped daughter and a woman who has been released from prison to find she has no connections.

Michael is uncomfortably close to the team's latest case, in which his brother's girlfriend is found dead and many signs point to his brother as a culprit. The case also puts Annika in danger, and reveals a secret about Michael.
