Sol and Nancy enlist Vivien into further espionage after she brings back useful intelligence from within the National Socialist Movement. She becomes ever closer to the Movement's leader, while Stevie and Vivien's landlord begin to have suspicions. 

Everyone does what they can to help Poplar through a terrible accident, while Sister Frances continues to try to help a young mother and Sister Hilda ushers an older mother through a new chapter of life both joyful and tragic.

Vivien Epstein decides to suddenly start a new life in London after a lover goes there from her hometown of Manchester. Soon she is entangled in a network of Jewish activists working against a resurgent Fascist group. 

Nancy is assigned more responsibility but it conflicts with her time with her daughter, while Sister Frances helps a very young mother. An older mother struggles with her pregnancy, while her husband has an issue that dramatically affects all of Poplar.

After things go horribly wrong, Hannah recalibrates and tries to save her son, get revenge on the Mimicas, and salvage her investigation, in the season finale. 

Tom finally takes charge and stands up to the miscreants of Sanditon, with the help of Arthur and Mary. Georgiana receives shocking news, Alison makes delightful news, and Charlotte navigates the culmination of a budding relationship. 

A group of squatters moves into one of Matthew's warehouses, and one of them is due to give birth soon. Sister Monica Joan worries that an omen of misfortune has been sent to Nonnatus House and visits a medium for help, but ends up helping her instead.

Things are coming to a head in the investigation into the Mimicas, as new information both true and false is revealed, threatening Hannah and Billy's attempt to apprehend the family in the thick of their plot. 

Charlotte struggles to understand her feelings as the truth about Alexander Colbourne as well as the army begins to emerge. Tom and Arthur try to right things in Sanditon, while Georgiana faces a life-changing decision and Edward further manipulates Lady Denham.

Cyril and Lucille try to reconcile their plans for the future while Trixie begins to envision a future with Matthew, before sad news interrupts things. Nurse Crane has her own surprising news that upends her life. 

Christian is struggling with Stefan's fate as he continues to try to learn more about the large operation the Mimicas are planning so that the police can stop it and arrest them.

Charlotte reluctantly becomes the center of a bitter relationship between Colonel Lennox and Alexander Colbourne at Lady Denham's garden party, while her sister refuses to listen to advice and ends up hurt because of it. 

Sister Hilda and Dr. Turner try to help a man with a lung condition who is haunted by his past, while Sister Julienne and Trixie try to intervene in the difficulties of a struggling new mother.

Christian becomes ever more involved with the Mimica family, having to resort to increasingly drastic actions to keep his cover and stay safe. 

As Sanditon's Midsummer Fair approaches, Charlotte's charges and her employer begin to warm to her. Georgiana finds herself intrigued by Charles, Alison becomes ever more besotted, and Esther distrusts Clara's intentions.
