As the fourth season of Poldark comes to a close, Ross and Demelza try to confront their differences while a baby offers tentative hope for Elizabeth and George. Drake's life may finally be moving in a happy direction, if George doesn't ruin it first. 

Ross is spurred on by the provocations of Adderley into a rash decision that gets him in deep trouble – and George is eager to exploit it. But George has his own difficulties, as he suspects ill of Elizabeth. Both marriages are brought to a crisis.

While Ross and Elizabeth reconcile and Elizabeth realizes she is once again pregnant, George is intent on ruining Ross by causing the bank holding his money to fail. Demelza tries to prevent the plan, and Ross attempts to mitigate the damage.

Ross advocates for liberal policies in London, where Caroline is living large in order to overcome her grief. Drake takes a concrete step to move on from Morwenna, but a sudden violent turn of events upends everything.

Ross is still harping on Demelza's fling with Armitage, despite his own indiscretions, but soon has a larger crisis to deal with at the mine. Dwight is hiding something from the blissful Caroline, and the new parents are soon faced with tragedy.  

George hatches a plan to get back at Ross for taking his Parliamentary seat, while Caroline and Dwight delight in a new arrival – though Dwight is beginning to be apprehensive. Demelza deals with a crisis at the mine and a lovelorn Drake.

The powers that be are searching for someone to run against George for Parliament, but Armitage seems too sickly. What other dashing man might they choose? Demelza and Caroline help along that decision, while Sam gets drawn into a wrestling match.

Poldark is back, with all its romance, drama, and attractive landscapes (and people)! Demelza reckons with her relationship with Armitage, Sam and Drake are implicated in a dangerous situation, and rich lords search for a candidate to run against George in Parliament.

Johannes is put on trial while Marin's secret creates its own difficulties. Nella tries to save the brother and sister from doom by taking over the household while also searching for the mysterious miniaturist, hoping that she might hold some answers.

As Nella reckons with her husband's secret, she begins to discover more hidden affairs within her household and continues to investigate the seemingly all-known miniaturist. Things go badly awry for Otto, then Johannes, and then Marin. 

When the young Nella marries the wealthy merchant Johannes Brandt in seventeenth-century Amsterdam, she is thrust into a house full of secrets, not least of which is her wedding gift: a miniature replica of the home that seems to have power over reality.

Cowley Station is being shut down, Thursday is retiring, and the escalation of a gangster turf battle seems like the end of an era in Oxford. But Morse is eager to solve one more case, as he goes undercover as a teacher at a mysterious, creepy prep school for boys.

Morse stumbles into the world of James Bond-esque Cold War espionage when a German is assassinated in Oxford. Poisonous fish, guns disguised as everday objects, tuxedos playboy chemical barons: it's all here. Meanwhile, Thursday investigates a case of domestic abuse.

The murder of a model on a military base causes Thursday's son to become a suspect, while the unusual past of the victim brings racism into play in the investigation of the murder. A war hero suffering from PTSD, a Nazi sympathizer, an anti-racism activist: the characters are colorful.

A missing persons case leads Morse to explore country railways and eventually resurrects the specter of an unusual unsolved murder from a few years earlier. Trewlove proves her merit against boorish detectives from another division, and a gang war seems to be brewing.
