Call the Midwife

Fred and Reggie meet an ailing man who keeps pigeons, and try to convince him to move out of his condemned building while helping with his health. Four young doctors move into Nonnatus House to learn from the midwives. 

The midwives organize a fashion show to raise money for an incubator while Nurse Crane seeks to help a recent immigrant ashamed of her condition and Lucille works at the hospital with a rude, racist woman. 

Sister Julienne tries to help an independent-minded, pregnant prostitute. The hardworking mother of a pregnant woman suffers from a mysterious illness. And the relationship between Sergeant Woolf and Miss Higgins gets complicated. 

Dr. Turner searches for the source of a diphtheria outbreak in Poplar while a woman in a complicated situation suffers regrest after feeling like she had no option but to abandon a baby in a trashcan, in the return episode of Call the Midwife.

Mother Mildred brings a contingent of midwives with her to the Outer Hebrides, where fickle electricity and isolated attitudes create difficulties for them as they try to help a hotheaded young woman and another who lives far away at a lighthouse.

Valerie is placed in a terrible position in relation to her family, and Sister Frances wants to do more to help both her and Poplar's women. The Nonnatans try to give a young girl suffering from cancer a normal life as Shelagh organizes a charity ball. 

The Turners prepare for Mae's departure while a proposed reproductive clinic in Poplar inspires debate. Sister Frances goes through her first delivery, a husband struggles with his willpower, and Valerie is stunned and horrified by a revelation in her family.

Mother Mildred becomes interested in working conditions when she comes to Poplar and tends to a family with three generations of dockworkers. Lucille's romance hits a rough patch, while she tries to help a young single mother intent on keeping her daughter despite her parents' wishes.

A husband suffers during his wife's pregnancy while another woman learns she has a rare condition that causes her to have a life-altering identity crisis. And both Phyllis and Lucille reluctantly face romantic interests. 

Cilla Singh and Enid Wilson are both pregnant, but in very different circumstances. They do have one connection, however: Cilla is Enid’s daughter.

Violet takes to her new role with gusto while one of her newest constituents anxiously worries over every little thing that happens to her infant daughter. Another mother is more than ready for her sixth child, but he proves to be more difficult than her others. 

A Ghanian immigrant family's bright future is complicated by a mysterious illness, and Lucille tries to help an old hoarder with an impressive past clean up her life. Meanwhile, Violet runs for town council and Fred fails to be supportive. 

Two new nuns, one experienced and one freshly commissioned, arrive at Nonnatus House. New equipment triggers a delusional episode in Sister Monica Joan, Valerie deals with a crisis with legal complications, and a mother carries twins.

As Christmas approaches, the Nonnatus sisters are called back to the Mother House to elect a new Mother Superior. There, they care for newly arrived orphans from China as well as a pregnant woman who used to live there. Back in Poplar, Trixie returns and helps with a birth in an unusual place.
