As Grantchester returns, Geordie's family and everyone from the vicarage seeks a break at a holiday resort, but an unexpected death draws Will and Geordie into an investigation, while Leonard stumbles into trouble via his kindness.

Season six of Grantchester hasn't even aired on WTTW and PBS yet (it's coming in early October), but we already have news of another season, which has just started filming.

Geordie and Will discover a strange convent that appears suspicious, while Will tries to grapple with his guilt in the wake of the scandal at the boxing gym and Leonard's father visits, in the season finale of Grantchester

A tragedy at the boxing gym leaves Will shattered as he learns about the plight of his favorite charge, Matthew, as well as the other boys and their desperate attempt to escape their troubles. 

A young man streaks through the streets yelling about aliens, then is found dead in a fen. The incident leads Geordie and Will into the world of LSD trials and psychotherapy, while Cathy and Geordie deal with Cathy's mother. 

A disturbance at a movie theater has a connection to a minor crime committed against Mrs. C. It eventually reveals a part of her husband's past that was hidden, while Will struggles to help the troubled young Matthew.

Ellie ends up helping Will in the investigation of a hit-and-run involving two reclusive brothers and an unscrupulous investment broker when she shows up looking for a lead, while Geordie and Will face issues with mothers in their lives.

Will and Geordie investigate the death of a woman at one of the few female colleges in Cambridge, discovering misogyny, secret drinking societies, and a world of fancy balls in the return of Grantchester.

Cathy contrives a plan with Mrs. C to do something about the predatory Anthony, a situation that has made Geordie angry all the time and leads him to overstep in an investigation of the death of one of his daughter's classmates, in the season finale.

When a difficult incident brings Will home to his family, he asks Geordie to join him as he tries to confront his family. Will's unexpected background is revealed—and a sudden death leads to a murder investigation, while Leonard stews back in Grantchester. 

When a silent boy holding a bible appears at the police station in a bloodstained shirt, Geordie enlists the reluctant Will's help and they become embroiled in a Mennonite family's conflicts. Leonard fears what his falling out with Mrs. C will lead to. 

With Sidney gone, Geordie enlists Leonard to help him solve a case involving a brilliant researcher working with computers – and Leonard might have some special knowledge regarding the case. A replacement for Sidney is named as vicar of Grantchester. 

Sidney drowns his existential distress in drink and has an encounter with a young woman – but when she shows up dead the next day, he can't remember much about her because he was too drunk. He makes a drastic decision to fix his troubled life. 

A visiting civil rights activist's speech is interrupted by chaos and a murder, drawing Sidney into the orbit of the American civil rights movement while Geordie struggles to keep up with the changing times. Recap the first part of the return of Grantchester here.
