When an inmate at Leonard's prison turns up dead and Leonard's cellmate is blamed, Leonard enlists Will and Geordie to investigate shady occurences at the prison. 

Baptiste, Emma, and Zsofia find clues implicating Kamilla Agoston and her husband Michael as involved in some shady dealings related to the disappearance of Emma's family, and continue to try to locate her son Will. 

The bishop appoints a new curate to Grantchester, but no one is in the mood to welcome him, given that he's Leonard's replacement. A student protest gone wrong leads Will and Geordie to investigate, and into an argument. 

Emma and Baptiste discover a possible clue on Emma's son Alex's laptop while Zsofia tries to prevent possible violence at the upcoming speech of a politician.

As Leonard goes to trial, a bank robbery serves as a distraction for Geordie and Will, the latter of whom wants to testify on behalf of Leonard but is warned against it because of the possible repercussions for himself. 

The capture of someone involved with the disappearance of Emma's family leads to the release of a hostage video, while Baptiste struggles with tragedy in his own past and seeks to aid Emma as she works outside the law to save her son.

When some American servicemen are brought into the station for trespassing in a quarry, a murder investigation suddenly opens up, while Will tries to deal with his stepsister and Leonard and Daniel learn more about each other. 

When the husband and sons of the British ambassador to Hungary go missing, Baptiste, seemingly running from some recent sadness, offers his aid to help find them. The case spawns even greater tragedy. 

Leonard's escalating tribulations place Will in a difficult moral position, while a council election precipitated by a sudden death turns nasty—and an investigation is opened into the death. 

Will ends up in the middle of a dispute over an adopted child that becomes more serious when someone turns up dead. Leonard finds himself in ever-worsening trouble after receiving some blackmail.

As Grantchester returns, Geordie's family and everyone from the vicarage seeks a break at a holiday resort, but an unexpected death draws Will and Geordie into an investigation, while Leonard stumbles into trouble via his kindness.

Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham of Ted Lasso has joined the cast of Masterpiece's upcoming adaptation of the classic novel Tom Jones, as has Doctor Who's Pearl Mackie and many more actors you might recognize.

Masterpiece has revealed photos from Magpie Murders, an adaptation of the popular Anthony Horowitz mystery novel of the same name coming to PBS next year and starring Lesley Manville, among others.

David Tennant, a former host of Masterpiece, is returning to star as the adventurer Phileas Fogg in a new version of Jules Verne's classic Around the World in Eighty Days.
