As Oskar continues to try to learn more about the murder suspect Lazar Kiss, he is drawn into a secretive world of geopolitical maneuvering. Max continues to try to understand the players in the case, eventually realizing some gaping mistakes.

Max and Oskar begin looking into Vienna's Serbian community after a man is found dead and tortured and a Serbian extremist group is expected to be involved.

Oskar and Max run into a dead-end investigating the death of a countess, until Max decides to offer himself up as bait to catch the killer. Secrets are hidden everywhere, and Max and Oskar's assumptions are consistently upended.
