When a historical reenactment goes wrong, Mike and Nikki are brought in to investigate. Pearl, of course, eventually also finds herself involved – including, more and more, with Mike. 

Mike investigates the attempted murder of a real estate agent while Pearl looks into the sudden appearances of anonymous gifts to elderly people in town.

Pearl Nolan is a restaurateur and amateur private detective who finds herself investigating the death of a friend and supplier, to the skepticism of the police.
