Sneak Peek: Daniel Tiger and Donkey Hodie to Meet in Special Crossover Episode

"Daniel Tiger Visits Someplace Else" airs on Monday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. on WTTW. 

Two beloved characters who have grown out of Fred Rogers’ legacy will meet for the first time in a special crossover episode of Donkey Hodie. Daniel Tiger and Dad Tiger will visit Donkey and Grampy in a new episode, “Daniel Tiger Visits Someplace Else,” premiering on Monday, August 11 at 11:00 am on WTTW. 

For this episode, Daniel Tiger and Dad Tiger (who is Daniel Striped Tiger from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood) have been transformed into puppets. The two Daniel Tiger characters hop aboard Trolley to meet up with Donkey and Grampy (who is the original Donkey Hodie from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood) to help Grampy fix his beloved clock. Daniel and Donkey become friends and set out on an adventure together. The episode will also include a new version of the classic Fred Rogers “Look and Listen” song.

According to a press release from Fred Rogers Productions and Spiffy Pictures, “Re-envisioning the animated characters for Donkey Hodie was a true labor of love and every detail of the Daniel and Dad Tiger puppets was thoughtfully designed to maintain the characters’ familiar trademarks – from Daniel’s watch to the texture and uneven drawstrings of his signature red sweater.”
