Susan Ryeland and Atticus Pünd are back for a third and final time, in Marble Hall Murders. Like Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders, the latest is an adaptation of a novel by Anthony Horowitz – and features a novel within it.
In Marble Hall Murders, Susan Ryeland is hired to work on a new Atticus Pünd novel written by a young writer after the death of the detective series' original author, Alan Conway, in Magpie Murders. In that continuation novel, Atticus Pünd travels to Corfu to investigate the murder of an aristocrat, while a real-life murder has clues within the novel – and ends up with Susan as a suspect.
In addition to the return of Lesley Manville as Susan Ryeland and Tim McMullan as Atticus Pünd, Marble Hall Murders will feature a number of familiar faces, including Mark Bonnar (Guilt), Patricia Hodge (All Creatures Great and Small), and Harry Lloyd (Wolf Hall).
Marble Hall Murders will premiere on WTTW, PBS, and the PBS app on Sunday, September 6, along with a new season of The Marlow Murder Club.
While you wait for more information and the show, you can catch up on both Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders with our recaps, while WTTW Passport members can stream them via the PBS app.
