Chef Namhee Kim of Daebak Korean Barbecue in Wicker Park loves K-Pop, so much so that she owns a K-Pop gift shop in Chinatown near the original location of her KBBQ spot. At Daebak, along with the meaty menu of brisket, short rib, and pork belly grilled at the table, there’s a wall of K-Pop stars’ autographs from visiting boy and girl super-bands like GOT7 and Ateez, presumably signed after downing orders of cheesy buldak, tteokbokki, and perhaps a lychee soju or two.
Kim opened the Wicker Park spot in May 2024 with her husband, restaurateur Alex Cabrera. Here are her picks for good times around Chicago.
