The wait grows ever shorter. Fifteen years after Wolf Hall was published as the first of Hilary Mantel's trilogy about King Henry VIII's adviser Thomas Cromwell and nine years after the first two books were adapted for television, we have a premiere date for the final book's adaptation – and a video preview. Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light comes to PBS, WTTW, and the PBS app on March 23, 2025, some five years after the publication of The Mirror and the Light by the late Mantel. You can catch a glimpse of what's in store as Cromwell slowly falls out of Henry's favor and faces ever-increasing enemies after installing first Anne Boleyn and then Jane Seymour as queen below.
But that's not the only adaptation of a book coming to PBS and WTTW next year. Miss Austen is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Gill Hornby starring Keeley Hawes (The Durrells in Corfu) as Jane Austen's sister Cassandra, who burned much of her correspondence with her sister after Jane's death. You can preview that show as well as upcoming new seasons of All Creatures Great and Small and the newly renamed Miss Scarlet, both premiering Sunday, January 12, in the below video.
